Stichting De Explorer

Terms of use

These terms explain what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you when you use this website, sign up for a gathering, or support our work. Please read them before you use the site.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

This website, deexplorer.nl, is run by Stichting De Explorer, a foundation registered in the Netherlands with ANBI status.

These terms apply to everyone who visits this website, signs up for one of our gatherings, or makes a donation. By using the site you accept them. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

2. What we offer, and what we do not

De Explorer makes freely available content about faith, meaning and identity, and organises gatherings, webinars and open days. Everything on this website is free to view. We sell nothing, we have no paid subscriptions and we do not run a shop. Donations are voluntary and buy no product or entitlement.

3. Using this website

You may use this website for your own information and to get in touch with us. We ask that you do not:

We may block access if any of this happens. The site is offered as it is: we do our best to keep it available and correct, but we cannot promise it will never be offline or never contain an error.

4. Our content

The texts, videos, illustrations, photographs, the name De Explorer and our logo belong to Stichting De Explorer or to the people we work with. You are welcome to watch, read and share our content, and to link to it.

What you may not do without our written permission is republish our material as your own, use it commercially, or edit it in a way that changes its meaning. Quoting a passage with a clear source reference is always fine.

We would rather say yes than no. If you want to use something of ours in a way this section does not cover, write to info@deexplorer.nl and ask. Spreading the message is the point.

5. Signing up for a gathering

Signing up through our form puts you on the list for invitations. A sign-up is free and does not oblige you to attend.

House rules for a gathering

Our gatherings are meant for people who want to ask real questions, including uncomfortable ones. That only works if everyone can speak freely without being made small. So we ask four things:

If someone does not keep to this, we will say so, and if it continues we can ask that person to leave. That decision is ours to make on the day.

6. Donations

Donations to De Explorer are voluntary and support our work: making content, organising gatherings, and covering the running costs of the foundation. A donation gives you no claim to a product, a service or a say in what we make.

Stichting De Explorer holds ANBI status, which under Dutch law can make gifts to us tax deductible. Whether that applies to you depends on your own situation; check with the Belastingdienst or your accountant.

Did you donate by mistake, or for the wrong amount? Email info@deexplorer.nl within 30 days of the payment and we will refund it in full, without asking you to justify it. After 30 days we will still look at it, but by then the money may already have been spent on the work, so we cannot promise the same.

If you have set up a donation that repeats, you can stop it at any time. Email us and we will cancel it before the next payment date, and confirm to you that it is stopped.

7. Links and other platforms

This site links to our channels on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, and sometimes to other websites. Those platforms have their own terms and their own privacy rules, and we have no control over them. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's ground.

8. Our content is information, not advice

What we publish is meant to inform and to open a conversation. It is not religious, legal, medical, financial or psychological advice, and it is not a substitute for speaking to a qualified person. Decisions you make on the basis of our content are your own.

We are not liable for damage arising from the use of this website or our content, except where that damage is the result of intent or gross negligence on our part. This limitation does not affect any rights you have under mandatory Dutch law.

9. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is set out in our privacy policy. That page also explains how to see, correct or delete your data, and how to withdraw your consent.

10. Questions and complaints

If something is not right, tell us. Email info@deexplorer.nl and we will respond within one month. We would rather solve it with you than have you take it elsewhere, but you are of course free to do so.

11. Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms if our work or the law changes. The date at the top shows when the last change was made. The version on this page is the one that applies.

12. Applicable law

Dutch law applies to these terms and to any use of this website. Disputes we cannot resolve together will be submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unless mandatory law designates a different court.

Language

These terms are published in English. Stichting De Explorer is established in the Netherlands and subject to Dutch law.
